Physical Therapy

A construction worker with an injured back, a senior citizen with arthritis...an infant with a birth defect...an athlete recovering from knee surgery, a diverse group of people, yet each can benefit in some way from physical therapy.

With a physicians prescription, people with health problems resulting from injury or disease receive physical therapy to relieve their pain, make them stronger, regain use of an affected limb or relearn such activities of daily living as walking, dressing, or bathing.

The Wellness & Rehabilitation Center at Taylor Regional Hospital offers outpatient therapy for all age groups provided by licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. Services include hydrotherapy for wound care, aquatic therapy, orthopedic and geriatric therapy and work hardening.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised reconditioning program for patients with heart disease. The program includes monitored exercise, health education, counseling and training on the use of our new exercise equipment. Patients in cardiac rehabilitation exercise in a supportive environment and receive one-on-one counseling from our team of rehabilitation professionals.

You can benefit from cardiac rehabilitation if you have any of the following:

  • Heart disease
  • Heart attack
  • Angina
  • Coronary angioplasty, stent, artherectomy
  • Coronary artery bypass
  • Valve surgery/problems
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Heart transplant
  • Multiple coronary risk factors

Cardiac rehabilitation consists of three phases, the first of which (Phase I) begins when you are hospitalized with heart disease.

Phase II begins after you have been discharged from the hospital. It is an outpatient program that includes monitored exercise to promote your cardiovascular conditioning, along with health education classes to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Phase III begins after completion of Phases I and II, but is also offered to patients who are at risk for heart or lung disease. It continues the process with a supervised exercise program, where you can participate in a wider variety of exercises such as walking, bicycling, rowing, weight training, low impact aerobics and/or water exercise.
